How I Got Here

My passion for Real Estate & Interior Design started at the young age of 10 when I became obsessed with the show, Trading Spaces. Vern Yip and Genevieve Gordor (IYKYK) were to me what Michael Jordon was for the basketball fanatic. From there, I became a HGTV junkie and would practice design by begging my parents to let me paint my room and buy me new bedding.

Fast forward to adulthood, my husband and I purchased our first home in 2014 and that’s when I really started honing in on my design skills and documenting it along the way. Friends and family would constantly seek out my advice for their own homes. After moving several times and completing a couple full home renovations, I realized this was more than just a hobby for me. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, so in late 2020, I decided to turn my passion into a small business and started doing client designs.

Behind The Name

In 2023, I rebranded my Instagram and Website from Metz Home Design to Mary Metz Living….Why? After having my first child, I realized my life, my brand and what I wanted to stand for was more than just ‘home design’. Mary Metz Living is about creating a life you love to live. It is exactly what it is - LIVING life. I use the brand to share all of my passions and projects - from interior design to business entrepreneurship to everyday life with my kids and family. It is also the brand which I run my design projects from. Regardless of the brand name I use or the content category I “belong” in, I fundamentally believe we all live complex lives and that life is what you make of it.

I am here to help you build a space that you love to live in so that as you navigate your own journey of life, your home is a sacred place that grounds you and your family.
